Ether Studio

Ross has been refining his skills as a photographer and artist for twenty years. His journey has led him back to one of the original photographic processes—wet plate collodion. The process, invented in 1851, involves sensitizing a metal (tintype) or glass (ambrotype) plate with salted collodion and silver nitrate. The plate is then placed inside a camera to make a one of a kind image.

Ross has chosen different size plates to feature images of objects he has found or come into contact with over the years. These plates range in size from 2x3" to 24x24". He uses the same cameras and lenses used from that period, producing a tangible object brought to life in the same room as the subject at the same time as its creation.

Ross is excited to be able to share his work and hopefully inspire people the same way other artists have inspired him over the years.
